Why brunch at Franka is easy

There is no wait for breakfast or brunch at Franka Pizzeria. The dining room has plenty of seating, so you can walk in with a group, sit down and order. There is no list to join and no app to download.

Getting here is simple too. Franka is at 12695 University Ave Suite 100 in Clive, about 8 minutes from Jordan Creek Town Center and 7 from Valley West Mall (estimates from OpenStreetMap routing, without traffic). There is ample parking in front of the restaurant and along the side by the patio.

When to come

Breakfast is served Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 to 11am, and Monday through Thursday from 10 to 11am. On Saturdays and Sundays, our weekend brunch menu runs from 8am to 4pm, so there is no rush. Lunch starts at 11am every day, so a late group can mix brunch plates with pizza and salads from the lunch menu.

Weekend brunch runs all the way to 4pm, so a late start is fine. On weekdays, the breakfast menu ends at 11am.

What to order

Start with the thing you cannot get at most brunch spots: wood-fired breakfast pizza. The Breakfast Pizza has thyme cream sauce, scrambled eggs, chilies, fontina and chive. The Eggs & Bacon Pizza and Sausage & Egg Pizza are built on marinara with fresh mozzarella or fontina. Each comes in 10" and 14", and a 14" works well split across the table.

For something sweet, our pancakes and waffles are made with ricotta. Choose Franka Pancakes, Berry Bliss with fresh strawberries and blueberries, or Choco Bliss, or go with the Cinnamon Praline French Toast on sourdough. If you want savory, there are fluffy omelets (Country, Sunrise Veggie or Classic Cheese) served with breakfast potatoes and sourdough toast, plus the Franka Classic: two eggs, applewood smoked bacon and potatoes.

On the weekend brunch menu you will also find lemon ricotta pancakes with strawberry compote and a Breakfast Sandwich with fried egg, cherry bomb aioli, cheddar and bacon on brioche. See the breakfast menu for every item and price.

Drinks

Our mimosa is made with cava and your choice of orange, cranberry, pineapple or grapefruit juice. For something else from the bar, try an Aperol Spritz or a Hugo Spritz. We serve classic drip coffee hot and iced coffee cold, plus iced tea, juice and milk. Mocktails such as the Cranberry Fizz and the Pineapple Mint Sparkler work for anyone skipping alcohol.

Bringing a group or kids

Groups are easy because there is no wait to seat you. Kids 12 and under can order the Little Franka Breakfast: a pancake or waffle with breakfast potato, crispy hashbrown or french fries, and apple or orange juice. Rainbow Magic Pancakes with sprinkles are a reliable hit.

Gluten-free crust is available on breakfast pizzas for $3 more. We offer gluten-free options, but we are not a gluten-free kitchen, so please tell your server about any allergies.

Brunch for every kind of morning

Recovering from a long week? Go savory: a Country Breakfast Omelet with ham, mushrooms and American cheese, or Eggs Your Way with sourdough toast, and a side of applewood smoked bacon or house fennel sausage. Celebrating? Order a round of mimosas, a 14" Sausage & Egg Pizza for the table and a stack of Berry Bliss Pancakes to pass around.

Want something lighter? Hot Honey Avocado Toast with ricotta, pecans and chives is on the small plates menu, and you can add a side of avocado for $3. Need to be in and out quickly before a game or errand? Our pizzas are ready about 5 to 10 minutes after you order, and breakfast plates move just as fast.

Coming from further west? Franka is about 11 minutes from Waukee City Hall and about 9 minutes from Living History Farms in Urbandale, so it is an easy meeting point for friends spread across the western suburbs.

A simple brunch plan

Arrive between 9 and 10:30am on Saturday or Sunday, park out front and sit straight down. Split a 14" breakfast pizza for the table, add a stack of ricotta pancakes, and order a round of mimosas or coffee. Brunch runs until 4pm, and the lunch menu opens at 11am if anyone wants a Margherita.
